mwbqHamamelidaceae (mwbgmwbwR.Br., mwca1818), comunemente note come mwcqAmamelidacee, è una mwcgfamiglia di mwcwalberi ed mwdaarbusti appartenenti all'mwdqordine mwdgSaxifragalescite-ref-0-1-0[1].

Queste piante sono diffuse principalmente in aree temperate o tropicali, distribuite in una serie di regioni discontinue, mwfaOceania compresa (mwfqNuova Guinea, mwfgAustralia), e con la sola eccezione dell'mwfwEuropa.

Classificazione filogenetica

Secondo la classificazione mwhaAPG, la famiglia delle Amamelidacee è affine alle mwhqAltingiacee, da cui si sarebbe distaccata circa 90 milioni di anni fa, e sulla base dei reperti filogenetici va inclusa nell'ordine delle Sassifragali.

Attualmente sono accettati in questa famiglia 26 genericite-ref-0-1-1[1], per un totale di circa 90 mwiwspeciecite-ref-2[2], suddivisi in 4 mwkasottofamigliecite-ref-3[3]:

Classificazione Cronquist

Il mwjgsistema Cronquist prevedeva una definizione molto più ristretta di questa famiglia, inserita invece nel piccolo ordine mwjwHamamelidales. Difatti, in questa classificazione, le Amamelidacee comprenderebbero soltanto i seguenti tre generi:

• mwkgFothergilla
• mwlqmwlgHamamelis
• mwmamwmqLiquidambar

mwmwLiquidambar nella moderna mwnaclassificazione APG IV è invece incluso nella famiglia mwnqAltingiaceae, sempre nell'ordine mwngSaxifragales.
